How do you get in a horse race or help the mayor in harvest moon ds cute?

I know from pictures that you can enter horse races, and every once in a while, the mayor asks me to do this favor for him that I’ve never been able to figure out. while you’re at it, how do you get to the privite island in the corner of the map. any help would be appreciated

   There’s only horses races in ‘(More) Friends of Mineral Town’ (Game Boy Advance game).

   The ‘Winter Request’ on Winter 02 is when you can help the mayor, where you will get 1 piece of golden lumber in return.

   You will need to have 900 million G to buy the island. Thomas will then appear outside your house on the 1st of any season and ask you if you want to buy it.
   Then to get there, you have to use the boat by the beach to travel there.=

   ya, I’m not sure if there is a Horse Race in harvest moon ds cute, but you can help the mayor it’s “Thomas’ Winter Request”
