    A punter is not just confined to horse racing or the act of betting on a horse race or any other form of betting.

    It is a term used, particularly in the UK, and refers generally to a customer or patron.

    It’s use within betting industry is legend in the UK – whereas US focused gambling business would refer to their customers as users, clients – but more commonly: players.

    A punter is a betting customer in horse racing, although this can apply to any sport.

    A punter is the person who is betting against the bookies. Not just confined to Horse racing, it can include almost any form of sport and games also general intrest such as winners of television reality shows.
