No- its not wierd. But if a horse is able to be ridden, it should be. If you dont/cant ride, try to get a horse that has something that keeps it from being ridden.

Some people rescue horses that are only for companion pets. They may be young or old horses, but for various reasons are not able to be ridden.
They just need happy “forever” homes where they will be well fed, have adequate shelter, medical attention, and are well cared for.

Having two horses will mean they have a friend to be with so they are not lonely.

Yes. It’s strange but it’s become very common. They’re called yard ornaments and I don’t agree with them unless they serve a therapeutic purpose.

I’ve seen too many good horses wasted in this manner. Unless you can’t ride… I don’t agree with it.

No… but somebody should ride them for you or they should be getting at least some work.. it is bad for horses to stand around all the time! it can cause major lameness problems

some people just like to have a horse to play with but it should get some form of exercise!

My friend owns a TB and has never ridden her once – my daughter rides her for him.
I have another friend who has 2 Arab x Welsh horses and they don’t get ridden at all.

its not weird at all for people to own horses and not ride them, some people just like to look out their back or front window and see a horse grazing in the pasture, some horses cant be ridden and some people dont feel like they want to ride but still love horses or people have problems that dont let them allow to ride. hope this helps
